Buttercup is strong at initiating fights and peeling for teammates with her Yank, and is great for holding objectives since she doesn’t flinch to melee attacks. Her defensive ability is a bit different to other heroes – hold RIGHT TRIGGER to move faster and recover health at the expense of stamina. Don’t forget about her Launch attack on HOLD X (launches Buttercup in the targeted direction and picks up and carries all enemies in her path) and Slide Attack (PRESS X while travelling mounted for a special slide attack).

Daemon’s stealth makes him great for sneaking objectives, getting into the back line, and snoozing an enemy out of the fight. While under stealth, press Y again to put an enemy to sleep, but don’t hit them again or it’ll wake them up. Alternatively, attacking out of stealth gives you a damage boost – especially effective with his highest damage abilities - pressing X for a Spin Attack while SHIFTING. Don’t forget Daemon can Wall Jump (costs 1 stamina) to chase enemies up ledges.

El Bastardo relies on being offensive to create defensive shields making him good for players who like tanks, but want to play aggressively. If a melee attack is absorbed (or partially absorbed) by his shield, El Bastardo will not flinch. Use Empower and Tornado when there’s lots of enemies around to generate the most shield.
Mastering Leap of Faith is also critical to El Bastardo’s success. When locked-on, El Bastardo will leap automatically onto the target if assuming in range. If not locked-on, El Bastardo will leap in his facing direction, which is useful for escaping fights. If you want to Leap up to an upper level, just jump (A) first before you press Leap.

Gizmo’s GG Gun increases in attack speed while firing, and at full rate she can melt enemy health! She’s vulnerable if cornered by a melee Fighter, so stay near platforms and use Bouncer to get to upper levels when you see an enemy approaching. Evading into Bouncer allows you to get extra distance. When throwing Suck-a, if you tap while Locked-On it will automatically be throws at the target’s feet. If you’re not locked on, you’ll throw it at Gizmo’s feet (which can be useful defensively). Don’t forget you can re position Suck-a manually with Rs while holding RB.
Both Gizmo’s Super Abilities have some special execution. Rock-It can be detonated at any time by pressing X (though it increases in damage the longer you ride it). While Mini Mech is active, the Flamethrower can be triggered by holding down RB.

Kulev can be a tough starter class for new players, since he doesn’t have any movement abilities. Instead, he relies on good positioning, and self-casting shield (double tap Y) to sustain himself. Note that similar to Gizmo’s Suck-a, Sacred Ground will target under an enemy if locked-on, or under Kulev if not locked on, and can be moved around with Rs while holding Rb. Sacred Ground also gives an initial burst of healing when placed so positioning is important. Use Hypnotise Super to troll enemies by jumping them off edges, or running them intro trains, fire or electric fences! Having said that, a well-timed Boon on an aggressive ally like El Bastardo or Daemon can turn a team fight!

Maeve is a strong caster with excellent escapes which can make her frustrating to take out. Siphon Life is her best damage, but it also prevents her from flinching against basic attacks, and returns life; so it has useful utilities to consider. The Schadenfreude passive resets all Maeve’s special cool downs when landing a killing blow, so having team members feed you kills can help you snowball in a team fight.

Makutu is a tough front liner with good self-sustain who can also support team mates. Makutu doesn’t flinch to basic attacks, and as has a Stance Swap on RT instead of an evade. Note that changing stance also affects the Y ability and both these can be helpful to surrounding allies. While playing Makutu you can hold X on combo hit 1 or 2 for special slapping attacks! Holding X on the 3rd hit does an awesome uppercut that launches enemies into the air. Use Makutu’s Barge to push enemies off objectives, into hazards, off the level, and away from your allies.

Miko is the only melee support at present, and has excellent team healing and self-sustain. Her Chain Heal can be targeted at herself (double tap) or an ally (single tap) and her basic attacks also heal herself or a nearby ally. The Kinetic Shield blocks enemy projectiles, making it really useful for covering a team on an Objective, or Delivering Cells. It also blocks beams like Maeve’s Siphon Life, and an enemy Zero Cool’s healing. The Life force super can be re-targeted once cast by pressing Lb again, and Stalker super can be great for escaping a bad team fight, or ambushing an entire team from stealth.

Níðhöggr excels at taking down high health enemies, because his fire-based attacks do a % of the target’s max life as damage. Since multiple instances of Burn don’t stack, it’s most effective to try and spread out his fire damage between basic attacks. This strategy also allows him to exploit his passive, Feedback, which returns health when hitting burning enemies. Both of Níðhöggr’s supers can be pivotal in team fights, if used correctly.

ZeroCool is a very strong healer, featuring a consistent heal beam. Recharge can be re-targeted at any time by pressing Y again, or cancelled with basic attack (X). Continuous use of Recharge drains heal power, which reduces the heal effectiveness (represented by an icon on upper-right of health bar).
Since Zero is often the target of enemy attacks, try to position with your team between you and the enemy, and use Firewall to block enemies who are coming for you. Don’t forget ZeroCool can boost to the safety of upper levels by holding jump (A) while airborne, at the expense of 1 stamina. If you’ve taken a lot of hits, try to stay out the fight for a few seconds so that the Defrag passive has time to kick in. Helper Bot will shoot at stealthed Fighters if they’re the closest enemy, so use that if you’re being stalked!

Cass is an incredibly mobile hero. Instead of mounting on a board she gains momentum the longer she continues running. She can charge her regular jump to get to high ground and her Hightail can also be used as a means of escape. Her main weakness is a low health pool so entering the fray to deal damage and retreating when targeted by the enemy is the key to success. Remember, always be moving!
